New beginnings
As we approach the vernal equinox on March 20, there are much-welcome signs that spring is finding her way to Scotland. Snowdrops along the footpaths, budded daffodils and blooming crocus, and the more noticeable bird song are all raising our sprits. The increased sunshine and discernibly longer days have caused winter-dormant plants to awaken with swelling buds and even flowers on the earliest species such as Viburnum x bodnatense and the hamamelis, or witch hazels.
Spring is the perfect time to start our new venture, Twinflower Specialist Horticulture. After years of training and working in some large and prestigious public gardens throughout the UK, we are looking forward to putting down roots in Edinburgh, the city we love, and sharing our skills with new clients. We believe that excellent horticulture doesn’t have to be reserved for gardens that require tickets to enter. With our help it is possible to have that level of horticultural professionalism and artistic vision in your own garden, for you and your family and friends to enjoy whenever you wish.
If you are looking to take your garden to the next level, or want to create a new garden that’s something special, we offer free, no-obligation initial visits. Please have a look around our website to see what we do, and then get in touch to set up a time to talk about your garden dreams.
In the meantime, we’ll be writing here about our passion for horticulture, our philosophy of gardening, and we’ll pass along some practical tips that you can use in your own gardens. We’ll also be sharing our work and garden inspiration on our Instagram @twinflowerhorticulture and invite you to follow us there.
We’re so happy to be gardening in Edinburgh, and we can’t wait to grow with you.
